Established in 1949, the Glen Afton Citizens’ Sports Club or the Blue Rooms as it was often called was the hot spot of the district.
Hosting events from local school speech competitions, fundraising events, local country music club, and in its day, many touring bands, the venue played a vital role in connecting the many communities within it.
2017 saw the existing venue destroyed in a fire which was devastating to the community. Not only did the community lose a local venue, it was also significant piece of history that was so prevalent in the community for over 50 years.
In 2023, the volunteer committee came together to facilitate the rebuild, to bring our communities back together and provide something for the generations to come.
Throughout 2024 the committee worked tirelessly to get the build from concept to reality. This included the change of name to Glen Afton and Pukemiro Districts Community Hub Inc to bring together the two communities that sit side by side.
2025 sees the build come leaps and bounds with the finishing touches currently underway. We can’t wait to share the next chapter with you all!
